Who doesn’t want to be successful, right?

It’s just a little disingenuous how we tell stories of success these days. We tend to prefer stories that start out with a mishap or difficult circumstance and then turn into a miraculous recovery!

But what about the middle part? The part where you have a job you hate or you attempt something new only to realize you don’t like it or the part where you realize you can actually do multiple different things if you want to?

Success is never a linear road. It is full of ups and downs; where the downs really feel like they have no way up & the ups also feel like they will never come down!

So what gets you through it?

Vision! A clear vision of what you want your future to look like will take you further than a network ever will.

Here is how:

Vision helps you keep the end goal in mind so you always make the right next step.

The right next step isn’t about always doing what is considered right by the people around you, and it isn’t about taking the best job or the highest paying salary. The right next step is whatever is going to get you closer to that end goal in any form or fashion.

Maybe you want to work with people you like or you want to learn something new! Guess what? You can do both!

 

The right next step is about building yourself into the person you want to be.

A common misconception is that you always have to strive to get the “best job” which might be true but not in the way you think of it. The best job isn’t always about working for a branded company or getting  a title that appears to be more senior. The best job is one where you can learn something new, something you need to know to be that person you aspire to be long term

 

Your future you is already in your mind.

Think of a celebrity you really admire and often aspire to be like. For more reasons than money or status or fame… but just because you like how they carry themselves. You know what you want to evolve into and that is the framework for the things you can do today to get there!

 

How does vision translate into an actual day to day strategy for your career?

A strategy is less about the steps and more about the vision and mindset.

It is about reminding yourself that you made the best possible decision you could with the information you had available to you. It is about finding comfort in the idea that you can always grow and change what you are doing and where you are.

When I teach my clients how to create a strategy, they are always confused along the way… not really sure why they are doing these exercises. And then, one day it clicks, they see how much they have evolved and they are never turning back. They are sure of themselves, and their power, and their strengths and the value they bring to the table. 

That is the vision of success I want for you!

You should know that you are already the person you want to be, you just have a few more steps you need to do to get there. And it is absolutely ok if you have more challenges because you will also come across opportunities and growth and change and success!
